Starting Out with Alpha Mini
I got my first Simagic wheelbase, the Alpha Mini, about four years ago, and I’ll be honest: it left a mark! That base wasn’t just strong, it was responsive, intuitive, and most of all, consistent. It gave me the feedback I needed to grow my race craft, and to this day, it still feels like home. The Alpha Mini is an absolute unit, and it will always have a special place in my heart.
The Jump to EVO Pro
Recently, I upgraded to the new EVO Pro base, and I have to say, it’s on another level.
Even compared to the already fantastic Alpha series and the Alpha U I previously owned before it, the EVO Pro is faster, smoother, and cleaner. Details feel more alive. Torque delivery is razor-sharp, but never aggressive. It`s no wonder why it`s been compared to some of the top of the line wheelbases in the world in reviews of it.
I’ve been testing it across iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione, and recently, Le Mans Ultimate, and in every sim, the EVO Pro just feels right. It adapts instantly, with that signature Simagic sauce: precise, grounded, immersive.
For me, great gear isn’t about force, it’s about flow. Simagic gear lets me focus entirely on my driving. I don’t have to think about my hardware. I just drive.
My Settings for EVO Pro
If there’s one lesson I’d share, it’s this — don’t be afraid to tweak.
Really sitting down and toying with my base has allowed me to reach my best, and I hope it can for you too. We all have our own journey, and part of mine, was I loved the feel of a raw, violent force feedback. But I quickly found that, similar to Romeo and Juliet, I was in love with the *idea* of being quick with a raw style of force feedback, but wasn`t actually getting quick with it:
